Game Guide
Squad selection
The season starts here!
Your aim as a Fantasy League Classic manager is simple - pick your squad of 16 Premier League stars from your
budget of £75 million.
All players and prices are listed on our Player List, so send your scouts off in that direction, but don't worry
too much about your accounting skills, as our system will give you a running total, once you start selecting your
players.
You can choose from the best talent the Premier League has to offer, but can only pick up to two players from
any one club.
Squad Selection Summary
To summarise, your squad should be selected in four easy steps:
- Pick your squad from our Player List.
- Ensure that your squad is within the £75 million budget.
- Ensure that you do not have more than two players from any one club.
- Make sure you have enough players to field a starting eleven in one of our four recognised formations
(4-4-2, 5-3-2, 5-4-1, 4-5-1).
Formations
In order to be successful you'll need to invest wisely across your entire squad of 16 players.
Only 11 players can play at any one time, so you need to find the best way of melding your team's attacking and
defensive instincts into a cohesive unit.
For any set of matches, your starting eleven can line up in one of four tried and tested formations, 4-4-2,
5-3-2, 4-5-1 or 5-4-1.
The 4-4-2 formation consists for one goalkeeper, two full-backs, two centre-backs, four
midfielders and two strikers.
The 5-3-2 formation consists for one goalkeeper, two full-backs, three centre-backs, three
midfielders and two strikers.
The 4-5-1 formation consists for one goalkeeper, two full-backs, two centre-backs, five
midfielders and one striker.
The 5-4-1 formation consists for one goalkeeper, two full-backs, three centre-backs, four
midfielders and one striker.
A set of matches is defined as all matches kicking off at the same scheduled kick-off time.
Using your unlimited substitutions you can change your formation between matches in order to use your full squad of
15 players.
Team Changes can take place right up until scheduled kick-off times. This means that even if matches are still
being played, you can make changes for subsequent fixtures without losing points for players in the current match.
However, it is important to note that if a player is not in your starting line-up at the scheduled kick-off time,
then he will not score any points for your team.
Club classifications
Managers may not select more than two players from any real-life Premier League club.
Sometimes during the course of the season players will move between Premier League clubs which could take teams
above the quota of two players per club. When this happens Fantasy League will update the player's club on the
Player List, but it will stay the same in any teams who had the player before the real-life transfer took place.
This is to prevent creating invalid teams. The player will still score points based on goals/assists/clean sheets
for his new club. If this player was sold, he could only be bought back as if playing for his new club.
Addition of new players
Players will be added to the player list as they come into contention throughout the season. Players who are not
on the player list are not available for selection.
Substitutions
You can use your squad to its full extent by making unlimited substitutions. To view your subsitutes bench, click the "Subs" tab towards the bottom of your pitch graphic. To make a substitution, simply hold down the left mouse button and drag the required player's shirt graphic from your subs bench on to the pitch over the shirt graphic of the player you wish to swap out. Your players will swap places there and then. Remember to click 'SAVE CHANGES' otherwise the change will not be completed.
You are free to make substitutions or transfers at anytime during the season. The deadline for each match is
right up until a game's scheduled kick-off, allowing for your last minute changes of heart.
This means that even if matches are still being played, you can make changes for subsequent fixtures without losing
points for players in the current match.
However, it is important to note that if a player is not in your starting line-up at the scheduled kick-off
time, then he will not score any points for your team.
If you want to make a substitution with immediate effect, just visit your team screen and drag the shirt icon
of the player you wish to bring in on to the pitch in place of the player you are subbing off. They will then swap over there and then in time for
the next scheduled kick-off. Be sure to press the SAVE button for your changes to be stored.
Supersubs
The Fantasy League Supersubs function allows you to plan your team’s substitutions in advance. With Supersubs
you can choose to set up your squad two, four, six, eight or ten days in advance, allowing you to pick which
players will be playing for which fixtures for the upcoming matches. Basically you have total control, allowing you
to relax and enjoy the weekend, safe in the knowledge that your players are out there scoring you points, or
otherwise.
To set up your squad for forthcoming matches, click on the SUPERSUBS button on your team screen and follow the
on-screen instructions to set up your team. This will only take a minute or so but make sure you check your
selections carefully to ensure the correct players are in for their matches.
An email confirming your selections will be automatically sent out. We strongly recommend you save this or a
printout of your choices as we are unable to look into any Supersubs queries without either of these.
Transfers
Fantasy League Classic allows each manager to make changes throughout the season. Managers may make unlimited transfers up until the start of the season at 12:45 on Saturday 15th August. After this initial unlimited transfers period has paased, managers have a total of 25 transfers to last for the season, with a maximum of 5 transfers per month. The transfer quota for
teams entering after the season starts will drop so that late starters will not have an unfair advantage. This goes
down at the end of each calendar month (i.e. Sep=20, Oct=15, Nov=10), so the later you register the less transfers
your team has. From November until the end of the season, all new teams entered will start with 10 transfers.
Existing teams’ transfer allocations are not automatically reduced at the end of each month, this only refers to
teams registering at these particular times.
Making a transfer
Making a transfer is easy. Simply click on the 'TRANSFERS' button on your team screen to view your existing team. To move a player out of the team, click on the cross that appears next to the player's name and the player will be removed from your squad. The players available to transfer into your team are shown in the list on the left-hand side of the screen. Some players' names will be greyed out because you do not have sufficient budget to bring them in, or because your club quota or formation rules will be broken as a result of moving in that player. Click on any non-greyed out player to bring him into your team. When you're done, remember to click 'SAVE' and you're away.
Remember that you must stay within the £75 million budget, and you cannot own more than two players from any one
Premier League club. Also bear in mind that you will need to select a valid formation for future matches, as noted
in the formations section.
